The jungle have small "temples", you can fit whole bases insude. The edge between the desert and tundra have nice rooms to start, the base, uppet and lower levels. The dafari summoning temple in the desert and the grave mounds in the mountain biome. I have also visited during the day and night. I haven't seen any totems spawn.
