From the age of it the engine is either a F-124, F-140 or an F 162. The F-400 block number gives it away. Now another thing, those 3 engines use a lot of interchangeable parts. Also a lot of the smaller blocks were bored out to become the next larger size rather than sleeveing them when they were overhauled.The location of the engine number is basically the same on all 23" and 25" long Flathead six engines, on a raised pad, on the drivers side of the engine, about 4" back from the front of the block, just below the head. Hence; a 36 block #836010, has a full water jacket, Dipstick and oil filler on left and Serial number by fuel pump.
